Fresno, CA (June 26, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred early Wednesday morning at the intersection of Shaw and Chateau Fresno Avenues in Fresno, leaving one person dead and another hospitalized.
Accident Details: Fresno resident Pragat Singh, 20 years old, was driving a 2006 Hyundai Tucson westbound when he crossed into the eastbound lane. At the same time, another man was driving a 2020 Chevy Silverado eastbound. The collision resulted in the death of Pragat Singh at the scene, while the driver of the Silverado was transported to the hospital with back pain. Preliminary investigations suggest that drugs and alcohol were not factors in this crash.
Legal Considerations: If negligence was the cause of the crash, Singh’s family may be able to file a wrongful death claim. Even if Singh shares some of the responsibility for the crash, his family may still be able to recover reduced compensation based on California’s comparative fault laws. As a personal injury attorney, I find that several aspects must be analyzed. Evaluating the road conditions at the time of the accident can provide insights. Poor lighting, unclear signage, or hazardous road conditions may have contributed to the collision, which would implicate the local municipality. Mechanical failure or lack of proper vehicle maintenance could also be a factor. Investigating whether either vehicle had any known mechanical issues that could have caused the accident is necessary.
My condolences go out to the friends and family of Pragat Singh during this difficult time. I also wish the injured individual a fast recovery.
