Samuel Ramirez Jr. Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash in Helmet

Helmet, CA (June 6, 2024) – A man from Moreno Valley was killed after crashing into another vehicle in Helmet on Thursday, June 6. He reportedly had lost control of his vehicle while driving at high speeds. The Riverside County Coroner’s Office later identified the man as Samuel Ramirez Jr.

Accident Details: The crash occurred Thursday evening around 10 p.m. on Stetson Avenue near Kirby Street. Driving at high speeds in a Honda Accord west on Stetson, Ramirez lost control of his vehicle and skewed into the next lane. A Mazda CX3 t-boned him on the passenger side of his car. The driver of the Mazda was treated for minor injuries. Ramirez was killed. The Helmet Police Department reported that Ramirez had not been wearing a seatbelt and that excessive speed probably contributed to the crash. However, there was no reason at present to suspect drugs or alcohol playing a role in the crash. Anyone with information is urged to call Police Corporal Cheyne Nicot at 951-765-2400 and reference file 2024-03248.

Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find several details warrant close examination in this case. If negligence caused the crash, the family of Samuel Ramirez Jr. may be able to file a wrongful death claim.

Vehicle Failure: If a mechanical failure caused Ramirez to lose control of the vehicle, liability may extend to the car manufacturer or maintenance service provider. While Ramirez’s excessive speed and failure to wear a seatbelt do not preclude liability, it may implicate California’s comparative negligence laws, affecting the recoverable compensation.

My thoughts are with Samuel Ramirez Jr.’s family and friends during this tragic time. I hope further investigation gives answers to the cause of the collision.
