Six Injured in Head-On Collision Near Collins Lake

Yuba County, CA (October 15, 2025) – Six people were injured in a head-on collision on a rural stretch of Marysville Road in Yuba County on Wednesday evening.

Accident Details: The crash occurred shortly after 5:15 p.m. near Leanne Way, not far from Collins Lake. California Highway Patrol officials reported that a 56-year-old woman driving north on Marysville Road veered into the southbound lane, striking an oncoming vehicle.

She was airlifted to Enloe Medical Center with major injuries. The southbound driver, identified as a 53-year-old man, was flown to Sutter Roseville Medical Center with a broken arm and additional injuries.

Four passengers traveling with him, a 36-year-old woman and three children, were taken by ambulance to Adventist Health and Rideout for treatment of minor injuries.

Investigation: Authorities closed Marysville Road for approximately two hours while emergency crews and investigators responded to the scene and cleared the wreckage.

Investigators will conduct a thorough analysis to determine what happened, with a particular focus on identifying the reason the 56-year-old driver drifted into the other lane. Key areas of focus include:

  • Driver’s condition. Officials will review whether fatigue, distraction, or a medical emergency caused the northbound driver to lose control of their vehicle.
  • Road conditions. Investigators will assess the condition of Marysville Road, including lighting and visibility, to determine if these factors contributed to the crash.
  • Speed and vehicle positioning. Measurements of skid marks, debris distribution, and the resting positions of both vehicles will help determine the speeds involved and the precise point of impact.
  • Witness accounts. Statements from bystanders or nearby residents will help confirm the sequence of events leading up to the collision.

Investigators may also examine whether mechanical issues contributed to the crash. Once the analysis is complete, authorities will use the findings to reconstruct the collision.

Legal Considerations: Crossing into the adjacent lane into oncoming traffic can be considered negligent because the driver violates their duty to stay in their lane and operate their vehicle safely.

Depending on the investigation’s results, the 53-year-old man and the passengers in his car may be entitled to file personal injury claims. Potential compensation in such cases may include coverage for emergency medical treatment, ongoing rehabilitation, lost income during recovery, and pain and suffering.

My thoughts are with the individuals injured in this accident. I hope for a full and speedy recovery for everyone involved.
