Woman Killed in DUI Crash on State Route 76 in Pala, Suspect Arrested

Pala, CA (March 17, 2025) – A 58-year-old woman was killed early Sunday morning in a head-on collision on State Route 76 east of Lilac Road. Authorities arrested Jason Angelo Albright, 38, on suspicion of DUI, gross vehicular manslaughter, and murder.

Incident Details: According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to a crash around 1 a.m. involving a Chevrolet Tahoe and a Mitsubishi Outlander. Investigators determined that Albright, driving the Tahoe, veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with the Mitsubishi before overturning. The woman driving the Mitsubishi was rushed to a hospital, where she later died. Her identity has not yet been released, pending notification of family.

Authorities say evidence indicates alcohol played a role in the crash. Albright was booked into the Vista Jail as the investigation continues.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: DUI-related fatalities often result in severe criminal charges, as well as potential civil claims from the victim’s family. Investigators will assess whether additional factors, such as excessive speed or prior DUI history, contributed to the crash. The family of the deceased may have grounds for a wrongful death claim to seek compensation for funeral expenses, loss of support, and emotional suffering.

My deepest condolences go out to the family of the victim during this difficult time.
