Pacoima, CA (August 4, 2025) — A woman and her dog were tragically killed Monday in a hit-and-run crash near Osborne Street and Haddon Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Incident Details: The woman was walking along the roadside in the Pacoima neighborhood when a vehicle fatally struck her and her dog. The driver fled the scene. Responding officers later located the suspect vehicle nearby and arrested 31-year-old Ever Marquez for felony hit-and-run causing death. His bail was set at $30,000.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: The investigation into what contributed to the crash is ongoing. Authorities will assess whether driver conduct, such as speeding or distraction, road conditions, or impairment, played a role.
Pending the outcome of the investigation, the woman’s family may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim, potentially seeking damages for emotional distress, funeral expenses, and loss of companionship.
