Menifee, CA (May 29, 2024) – A tragic incident occurred in Menifee Wednesday night when a 25-year-old runner was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver. Authorities are now appealing to the public for assistance in solving the case.

Incident Details: The accident happened around 10:00 p.m. near 28760 Bradley Road in a residential area of Menifee. The victim, identified by the coroner as Victor Bello of Winchester, was found unresponsive in the roadway by responding Menifee police and Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department personnel. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, Bello was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the Menifee Police Department, Victor Bello was running northbound on Bradley Road when a vehicle, also traveling northbound, struck him. The vehicle involved did not stop and fled the scene. Based on preliminary investigations, police suspect the vehicle may be a 2021 to 2023 Hyundai Elantra. Menifee Police Officer Norwood is leading the investigation and is urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information related to the fleeing vehicle to come forward. Witnesses can contact Officer Norwood at 951-723-1612.

Legal Implications: This hit-and-run is being actively investigated with significant concerns over the driver’s failure to stop and provide aid. If apprehended, the driver could face serious charges, including vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident. The family of Victor Bello might also pursue a wrongful death claim depending on the investigation’s outcome, which could provide compensation for funeral costs and other related expenses.

My thoughts are with the family and friends of Victor Bello during this incredibly difficult time. I hope that the driver responsible is apprehended and held accountable.
