Veronica Flores Killed in Suspected DUI Crash in Visalia

Visalia, CA (February 23, 2025) – A suspected DUI crash in the early hours of Sunday, February 23, 2025, claimed the life of 41-year-old Veronica Flores in Visalia.

Accident Details: The collision occurred a little after 3 a.m. near Divisidero Street and Houston Avenue. Authorities reported that Isaiah Martinez, 23, struck Flores before crashing into a light pole. Flores died later at a local hospital. Police suspect Martinez was driving under the influence of alcohol. Martinez was evaluated and then booked into jail. Authorities stated Martinez had no prior DUI offenses. Police are still investigating the incident and urge anyone with information to contact the Visalia Police Department.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: Driving under the influence of alcohol is generally considered negligent. All drivers must drive safely on the road. When someone chooses to drive while intoxicated, they disregard traffic laws and public safety. Alcohol slows reflexes, making it harder to respond quickly to hazards, stop signs, or other vehicles. A driver under the influence may misjudge distances, speeds, or traffic conditions, leading to poor or reckless choices on the road.

Authorities cannot officially conclude that intoxication caused the accident until they gather concrete evidence to confirm whether the driver was legally intoxicated at the time of the crash. This evidence may include toxicology reports, witness statements, and surveillance or dashcam footage.

Depending on the investigation, Flores’s family may have grounds to file a wrongful death lawsuit, which can provide them with financial compensation for funeral expenses, loss of financial support, and emotional suffering.

My sincerest condolences are with the family and friends of Veronica Flores during this difficult time.
