Rear-End Semi-Truck Accident Sparks Fire on I-84 in Tremonton

Tremonton, UT (August 6, 2025) — A collision between two semi-trucks Wednesday afternoon ended in flames along Interstate 84 in Tremonton, according to local fire officials.

Incident Details: Authorities say the crash happened just before 3:30 p.m. when the driver of a westbound semi-truck heard a loud “pop” and pulled over. As the truck was merging back into traffic, it was rear-ended by a second semi-truck. The second truck became fully engulfed in flames and jackknifed across the roadway, while the first truck sustained damage to its trailer. A passenger in the first truck reported mild back pain, but no hospitalizations were reported.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: The Tremonton Fire Department credited a swift team effort — involving multiple fire agencies, the Box Elder County Fire Marshal’s Office, a passing Grouse Creek crew, and a nearby farmer with a water tanker — for quickly containing the blaze. Officials are investigating the cause of the crash, including mechanical issues, following distance, and driver attentiveness. Even in non-fatal truck accidents, those with injuries may be able to pursue claims for medical expenses and other losses.

I am grateful no serious injuries were reported and wish a quick recovery to the passenger who was hurt.
