Antioch, CA (July 27, 2024) – Linda Woolridge, a 29-year-old woman from Antioch, tragically lost her life when she was struck by a suspected drunk driver while riding her bicycle on Lone Tree Way.
Accident Details: Woolridge was cycling just after midnight when the accident occurred. She was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Lone Tree Way and Sagebrush Drive. Marc Stowell, a passerby, found Woodbridge. He attempted to check her vitals, but she had already succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Investigation: The accident is still under investigation. Woolridge’s family and friends call for significant changes to improve safety on Lone Tree Way, a major thoroughfare notorious for speeding and traffic light violations.
Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find that several key legal aspects need a thorough investigation to determine liability and seek justice for Linda Woolridge. The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI, which is a critical factor in this case. Proving impairment will be essential in holding the driver criminally and civilly liable.
The history of accidents on Lone Tree Way indicates potential negligence by local authorities. Investigating whether the city knew the dangers and failed to act could establish grounds for the municipality’s liability.
If negligence caused the accident, Woolridge’s family may be able to file a wrongful death claim against the negligent parties.
My sincerest condolences go to Linda Woolridge’s family and friends during this difficult time. I hope they find the support they need.
