Three Injured, One Airlifted After Two-Vehicle Crash in Solvang

Solvang, CA (May 12, 2025) — A woman was critically injured and two others sustained moderate injuries in a two-vehicle collision Monday afternoon at the intersection of Highway 246/Mission Drive and Alamo Pintado Road in Solvang, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Incident Details: The crash was reported at 12:42 p.m., prompting a multi-agency emergency response. Firefighters arriving on the scene found one vehicle with significant damage and an adult female driver trapped inside. Crews extricated the woman from the wreckage and determined she had major injuries. She was first transported by ambulance to Santa Ynez Airport, where she was met by Santa Barbara County Copter 3 and airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in critical condition.

Two additional people, a man and a woman from the second vehicle, were treated at the scene for moderate injuries and were also taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital by ambulance. Their current conditions have not been disclosed.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: Authorities have not yet released the cause of the collision, and the incident remains under investigation. Officers will likely assess whether speed, failure to yield, or distraction played a role.

Pending the outcome of the investigation, the victims, particularly the critically injured woman, may have grounds for personal injury claims to recover compensation for medical treatment, long-term care, and emotional trauma.
