Lakewood, WA (April 4, 2025) – A 29-year-old man from Tenino suffered serious injuries in a hit-and-run collision involving a semi-truck on Interstate 5 near Lakewood earlier this month, and the Washington State Patrol is asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver who fled the scene.
Incident Details: The crash occurred at approximately 3:00 p.m. on April 4, as the Tenino man was traveling northbound in a gray Audi Q5 near Gravelly Lake Drive. According to troopers, the Audi driver lost control and struck a concrete barrier on the left side of the freeway.
After the initial impact, the Audi re-entered the northbound lanes, where it was struck by a semi-truck traveling in the right lane. Rather than stopping to assist or report the collision, the semi-truck driver continued northbound and left the scene. The injured Audi driver was transported for medical treatment and is reportedly recovering from serious injuries.
Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or has information about the semi-truck to contact Detective Brooke Bova with the Washington State Patrol.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: The Washington State Patrol has launched a hit-and-run investigation and is actively working to identify the semi-truck and its driver.
The Audi driver might be able to file a personal injury claim against the semi-truck driver or the trucking company, depending on the investigation’s results. This type of claim provides compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
Our thoughts are with the injured driver as he continues to recover.
