Tanya Perry Remembered Following Fatal Hit-and-Run in Eagle Rock

LOS ANGELES, CA (November 3, 2025) — A Los Angeles Metro bus driver lost her life Sunday night in a hit-and-run crash in Eagle Rock. Authorities identified the victim as 50-year-old Tanya Perry of Inglewood.

Accident Details: The collision occurred around 7:40 p.m. near Colorado Boulevard and Eagle Dale Avenue. According to Metro officials, Perry had been on a break from her route and was crossing the street when a car struck her. Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department and first responders from the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived, but Perry died from her injuries at the scene.

The driver of the car continued southbound toward the onramp for the 2 Freeway and fled. LAPD said the vehicle may have sustained damage from the impact. Family members shared that Perry had not been scheduled to work that night but took an extra shift to help support her small baked goods business.

Her daughter, Dana Perry, described her mother as kind and hardworking. “She was such a good mom,” Dana said. “She was so kind, warm, welcoming, always smiling. Supportive. She was just everything.”

Metro released a statement expressing condolences and confirmed that grief counseling is being provided to Perry’s coworkers.

Investigation: The Los Angeles Police Department is leading the investigation. Detectives are reviewing nearby surveillance footage and asking witnesses to come forward. The driver’s identity remains unknown, and police are urging anyone with information to contact the LA Regional Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477).

As the investigation continues, Perry’s family has pleaded with the driver to take responsibility. “Whoever hit her last night, please come forward,” Dana said. “My mom was wonderful. I’m not mad at you. Things happen, but take accountability. Take responsibility. The world is hard enough. We forgive you, but please come forward.”

Legal Considerations: Hit-and-run pedestrian crashes create deep hardship for families who are left without closure. In this case, investigators will examine how the driver entered the crosswalk area and what led to the impact. The review may include witness accounts, vehicle debris, and nearby camera footage to establish fault.

Families dealing with these losses often face complex questions about restitution, insurance coverage, and accountability when a driver flees. While no outcome can undo what happened, identifying the responsible party can help ensure some measure of justice and reinforce community safety expectations for both pedestrians and motorists.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of Tanya Perry during this time of loss.
