Manhattan Beach, CA (May 4, 2025) – A tragic crash early Sunday morning claimed the life of 19-year-old Braun Levi, a student-athlete at Loyola High School.
Accident Details: Levi was walking with a friend on Sepulveda Boulevard around 1 a.m. when he was struck and killed by a vehicle. According to reporting from the Los Angeles Times, the suspect, 33-year-old Jenia Resha Belt, was driving on a suspended license. She was arrested at the scene and is now facing potential DUI and second-degree murder charges. She is currently being held without bail.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Driving under the influence impairs a driver’s judgment and slows their reaction time. Investigators will review toxicology reports and witness statements to determine whether impairment played a role. They will also analyze other evidence, including the debris at the accident scene and traffic cameras.
Depending on the investigation’s findings, Levi’s family may be able to file a wrongful death claim to recover damages, including funeral expenses.
I extend my condolences to Levi’s family, friends, classmates, and the Loyola High School community during this challenging time.
