Suspected DUI Crash Claims Four Lives in Fresno County

Fresno County, CA (January 10, 2025) – A tragic car accident on January 10th in Biola left four people dead, including 20-year-old Sandy Carmona Rodriguez and her cousin, 18-year-old Luis Carmona Rodriguez.

Accident Details: The fatal crash occurred just after 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Floyd and Shaw when a suspected DUI driver, Sean Allen Larry Guynes, allegedly failed to yield to oncoming traffic. Guynes struck the Nissan Altima carrying Sandy and Luis, causing both vehicles to veer off the road and burst into flames. Both cousins and two passengers in Guynes’ car lost their lives in the crash. Guynes, 32, had a prior DUI conviction and was reportedly driving with a suspended license at the time of the crash. He now faces four counts of murder and is expected to appear in court on January 15th.

Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find that several aspects of this case warrant further examination. Driving under the influence (DUI) is a violation of California law and a breach of the duty of care every driver owes to others on the road. By operating a vehicle while impaired, Guynes disregarded the safety and well-being of others.

The families of the four deceased may be able to pursue a wrongful death claim against Guynes. A wrongful death claim allows surviving family members to seek compensation for funeral expenses, loss of financial support, and the emotional toll of losing a loved one.

I offer my sincerest condolences to all those affected by this tragedy. GoFundMe campaigns have been set up to assist the families of Sandy and Luis Carmona Rodriguez with funeral and related expenses.
