Chula Vista, CA (April 14, 2025) – Authorities have identified 66-year-old Susie Gonzalez as the pedestrian who died after being struck by a vehicle in Chula Vista earlier this month.
Incident Details: The crash occurred on April 4 at the intersection of E Street and Woodlawn Avenue, where Gonzalez was walking across the road when she was hit by a Toyota sedan. Emergency responders transported her to UCSD Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries six days later. Gonzalez was a resident of Chula Vista.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: The circumstances surrounding the crash are under investigation. Key questions include whether the driver was speeding, distracted, or failed to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. The location and visibility of traffic signals, pedestrian signage, and lighting at the intersection will also be reviewed. If negligence is found, Gonzalez’s family may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim under California law.
