Stetson, ME (July 23, 2025) – A crash involving a tractor-trailer and a dump truck Wednesday morning in Stetson left two people injured and blocked a portion of Route 143.
Accident Details: The crash occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Route 143 near the intersection with Lakins Road. According to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office, both vehicles sustained significant front-end damage. One of the trucks reportedly crossed the centerline.
Two individuals were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Deputies are working to determine which vehicle crossed into the wrong lane. Investigators will evaluate road conditions, brake performance, driver logs, and potential distraction or fatigue. In commercial vehicle collisions, liability may fall on drivers, employers, or equipment maintenance contractors.
