Deputy Injured After Teen Leads Sonoma Deputies on High-Speed Pursuit in Stolen Truck

Sonoma County, CA (April 11, 2025) – A Sonoma County sheriff’s deputy was injured Thursday night during a high-speed pursuit involving a 15-year-old driving a stolen Chevrolet Silverado.

Incident Details: The pursuit began when a deputy spotted the stolen Silverado on Highway 101 near Baker Avenue. When the deputy attempted a traffic stop, the teen driver fled southbound, reaching speeds of up to 100 mph. The chase spanned 16 miles and involved assistance from the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety and Petaluma Police. While responding to the incident with lights and sirens activated, a sheriff’s deputy was involved in a crash at Highway 116 and Story Point Road. The deputy and another motorist were both taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: The teen suspect, already on probation for a previous stolen vehicle case, was booked into juvenile hall on multiple charges including felony evading, possession of a stolen vehicle, and probation violation. The California Highway Patrol is handling the investigation into the collision involving the deputy, which will likely focus on pursuit protocol and intersection clearance procedures during emergency responses.
