Sherril Joanne Del Rosso Killed, Three Others Injured in Lancaster Crash

Lancaster, CA (April 30, 2024) – A tragic collision on State Route 138 resulted in the death of 66-year-old Sherril Joanne Del Rosso and injuries to three others, including two juveniles, early Tuesday morning.

Incident Overview: The crash occurred at 7:22 a.m. at the intersection of State Route 138 and 90th Street West. Sherril Joanne Del Rosso, from Rosamond, was operating a 2005 Toyota southbound on 90th Street West when her vehicle collided with a westbound 2015 Freightliner driven by 40-year-old Connie Melendrez from Adelanto. The impact was severe enough to cause fatal injuries to Del Rosso, who was pronounced dead following the incident.

Two juvenile passengers in the Toyota, a 15-year-old boy and a 12-year-old boy, sustained major injuries and were airlifted to Northridge Hospital Medical Center. The driver of the Freightliner, Melendrez, was transported to Antelope Valley Medical Center for treatment following the crash.

Investigation and Legal Implications: California Highway Patrol officer Monique Mischeaux stated that alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash at this time. Currently, the exact cause of the collision is still under investigation. Depending on the circumstances surrounding the crash, the family of Del Rosso could decide to pursue a wrongful death claim. Additionally, the family of the injured minors could also file a personal injury claim to help with medical treatment costs. Depending on the share of fault, Connie Melendrez could also consider a personal injury claim.

I offer my deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Sherril Joanne Del Rosso during this difficult time. I also wish the injured victims, both the two children and Connie Melendrez, a thorough recovery.
