Jurupa Valley, CA (September 30, 2025) – A deadly crash in the early morning hours of Tuesday claimed the life of a young driver in Jurupa Valley. Authorities identified the victim as 25-year-old Andres Quintana Somoza of Corona.
Accident Details: The Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Bureau reported that the collision occurred shortly after 2:00 a.m. at the intersection of Agua Mansa Road and Brown Avenue. Quintana Somoza was driving a passenger vehicle when it collided with a semi-truck under circumstances that remain unclear.
Emergency personnel arrived quickly but determined that Quintana Somoza had died at the scene. The semi-truck driver remained at the site, cooperating with law enforcement officers throughout the investigation.
Authorities closed Agua Mansa Road between Brown Road and El Rivino Avenue while they examined the crash site and cleared the vehicles.
Investigation: The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has not yet determined the cause of the crash. Investigators are examining multiple factors, including speed, visibility at the intersection, and the potential for distraction. At this stage, officials said it remains unknown whether alcohol or drugs contributed.
The investigation will include mapping the collision scene, documenting the final resting positions of both vehicles, and reviewing debris patterns and skid marks. Data from the semi-truck’s electronic logging device or black box, if available, may provide key details about braking, speed, and steering inputs just before the collision.
Witness interviews and any available surveillance footage from nearby businesses, residences, or traffic cameras along Agua Mansa Road will also play a role in piecing together how the vehicles came into contact, along with lighting and roadway conditions at the time, visibility of roadway signage, and whether construction activity contributed to additional hazards.
Legal Considerations: The division of liability depends on the outcome of the investigation. Whether car or truck, all drivers share the duty to operate safely. If investigators find that the truck driver acted negligently, the family of the deceased may be able to pursue a wrongful death claim.
A wrongful death claim arises when a person’s death is caused by another’s negligence or unlawful actions. Surviving relatives may seek compensation for funeral and burial expenses, loss of income and household services provided by the victim, and the emotional pain of losing a loved one.
I offer my sincerest condolences to Andres Quintana Somoza’s family, friends, and community during this difficult time.
