Lower Providence Township, PA (May 24, 2025) – A violent crash involving a dump truck and a passenger car left one driver with life-threatening injuries Friday morning on Route 422, according to local authorities.
Accident Details: The collision occurred around 9:15 a.m. between the Oaks and Trooper Road exits. Investigators say a dump truck traveling westbound on Route 422 lost control, veered off the roadway, and crossed the median barrier into the eastbound lanes.
The truck collided with a silver Ford sedan, overturned, and spilled its cargo across the roadway. The impact crushed the sedan and shut down traffic in both directions for hours. Aerial footage from the scene showed tire marks through the grass, the dump truck on its side, and the car extensively damaged nearby.
The driver of the sedan was transported to the hospital with grave injuries and, according to police, is not expected to survive. The dump truck driver sustained minor injuries.
Legal Considerations: When a commercial vehicle crosses a median and enters oncoming traffic, investigators typically examine vehicle condition, speed, driver attentiveness, and possible mechanical failure. If it’s determined that negligence or equipment failure played a role, the injured party’s family may have grounds to file a wrongful death claim.
In cases involving commercial vehicles, federal and state safety regulations also come under scrutiny.
Ongoing Investigation: The crash remains under investigation by Lower Providence Township Police and state authorities. Officials have not yet released the names of those involved or announced any citations. All lanes of Route 422 have since reopened.
Our thoughts are with the critically injured driver and their family during this tragic time.
