Merced, CA (May 7, 2025) — A 29-year-old motorcyclist from Merced, Regino Mariscal, was killed Saturday night after being struck by an allegedly intoxicated driver. The suspect, Desiree Gomez, a Texas resident, has been formally charged in connection with the fatal crash.
Incident Details: Authorities allege that Gomez was under the influence when she collided with Mariscal while he was riding his motorcycle. The crash occurred Saturday evening, resulting in Mariscal’s death at the scene. The Merced Police Department has not yet released details about the specific location and circumstances of the collision.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: The crash remains under investigation, and Gomez has since been charged with Gross Vehicular Manslaughter While Intoxicated and DUI Causing Injury. She is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in Merced County Superior Court.
