South Jordan, UT (April 18, 2025) – A driver was hospitalized in critical condition Thursday night after a serious crash involving a pickup truck and a truck hauling a trailer on Redwood Road, according to the South Jordan Police Department.
Accident Details: The crash occurred near 9800 S. Redwood Road at mile marker 46. Authorities say the driver of a pickup truck attempted to make a left turn onto eastbound 9800 S. when the vehicle was struck by an oncoming truck towing a trailer.
Emergency responders transported the pickup truck driver to a nearby hospital with critical injuries. The driver of the truck and trailer was not injured. All lanes on Redwood Road were shut down following the crash, causing significant traffic delays in the area.
Legal Considerations: Left-turn collisions often raise questions about right-of-way and timing. Investigators will likely examine whether the pickup driver misjudged the distance or speed of the oncoming vehicle and whether the truck towing the trailer had time to react or was speeding.
If the evidence points to driver error, liability may fall on the pickup driver. However, investigators will also evaluate whether the trailer truck was operating lawfully and safely.
Ongoing Investigation: South Jordan Police are leading the investigation. The Utah Department of Transportation reported that the road closure was expected to last until 10:00 p.m. No citations or charges have been announced, and the names of those involved have not been released.
I hope the injured driver receives the necessary medical care and makes a full recovery.
