North Hills, CA (August 2, 2024) – On the early morning of Friday, August 2, 2024, 30-year-old Raymond Cody Gomez of Lancaster tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident on the San Diego (405) Freeway in North Hills.
Accident Details: The collision occurred at approximately 2:11 a.m. near the northbound freeway and Nordhoff Street. According to California Highway Patrol (CHP) Officer Elizabeth Kravig, the incident involved Gomez’s motorcycle and a dark sedan, both found in the middle lanes of the freeway. The CHP responded to the scene, and all northbound lanes were closed for several hours while investigators worked to determine the cause of the crash.
Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find that several critical aspects need a thorough investigation to establish liability and ensure justice for the victim’s family. The initial step in understanding liability involves a detailed examination of the accident scene. Investigators will look into factors such as road conditions, traffic signals and signage, driver and Gomez’s behavior, and the condition of the sedan and motorcycle.
Depending on the cause, Gomez’s family may file a wrongful death claim against the at-fault party or parties to seek compensation for the loss of their loved one, including damages for loss of companionship, emotional suffering, and financial losses.
My sincerest condolences are with the family and friends of Raymond Cody Gomez during this heartbreaking ordeal.
