Rachel Moreno, Jazmin Ramos, and Infant Son Ezra Killed in Wrong-Way DUI Crash on 60 Freeway in Pomona

Pomona, CA (March 22, 2025) – A devastating wrong-way crash on the westbound 60 Freeway near Reservoir Street claimed the lives of two sisters and a 1-year-old child, in an incident authorities believe was caused by an intoxicated driver.

Incident Details: The crash occurred around 11 p.m. when a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Rick Rodriguez entered the westbound lanes traveling eastbound. His vehicle struck a Honda Civic carrying Jazmin Guadalupe Ramos, 29, her sister Rachel Moreno, 39, and Ramos’ infant son Ezra. Both women were pronounced dead at the scene. Ezra was transported to the hospital in critical condition and passed away on March 25. Rodriguez also died the day after the crash due to his injuries.

Footage from the scene showed several mangled vehicles and widespread debris, with one car resting on top of the freeway median. The California Highway Patrol confirmed that Rodriguez is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: Wrong-way crashes involving intoxicated drivers often result in criminal charges and significant civil liability. Although Rodriguez is deceased, the families of the victims may still have the option to pursue a wrongful death claim through his estate or other liable parties. The tragic loss of multiple family members in a single incident underscores the devastating consequences of impaired driving and may prompt calls for enhanced freeway safety measures.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of Rachel Moreno, Jazmin Ramos, and baby Ezra.
