Victorville, CA (April 7, 2025) – A pedestrian was struck and killed Monday night in a collision on Amargosa Road near Gabriel Road, according to authorities. The incident prompted a full roadway closure as emergency responders and investigators worked the scene.
Incident Overview: The fatal crash occurred around 7:42 p.m. when a silver 2021 Honda Civic sedan traveling southbound on Amargosa Road collided with a pedestrian. The vehicle sustained significant damage to the front passenger-side bumper, headlight, and windshield, indicating a forceful impact. The car came to a stop along the southbound shoulder, and the pedestrian’s body was later found along the northbound right-hand shoulder near a damaged Walmart shopping cart and a single shoe, marking the severity of the collision.
Emergency responders from American Medical Response (AMR) and the Victorville Fire Department confirmed the pedestrian was deceased at the scene. The driver of the Honda Civic remained on site and is cooperating with the investigation, according to the Victorville Police Department.
A second vehicle was observed pulled over nearby on the northbound side of Amargosa Road, though officials have not yet determined whether it was involved in the crash or if the driver had stopped as a witness.
The identity of the deceased pedestrian has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Authorities have not announced the cause of the crash, but the investigation remains active. They will review factors such as lighting conditions, speed, pedestrian visibility, and roadway design to determine what contributed to the fatal collision.
Depending on the outcome of the investigation, the pedestrian’s family may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim, potentially seeking compensation for funeral expenses, emotional damages, and lost support.
I extend my condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim during this difficult time.
