Pedestrian Sara M. Wetzstein Killed in Sacramento County Crash

Sacramento County, CA (March 12, 2025) –  A pedestrian crash resulted in the tragic death of 48-year-old Sara M. Wetzstein of Carmichael, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Accident Details:  The collision occurred around 6:30 p.m. near the 4900 block of Marconi Avenue. Authorities report Wetzstein was crossing the street when a sedan struck her. They were both traveling in the same direction. The driver of the sedan was a woman in her 60s. Emergency responders transported Wetzstein to a hospital with severe injuries, but she later succumbed to her injuries.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: Pedestrian accidents often hinge on whether the pedestrian had the right-of-way at the time of the crash. Investigators will assess who had the right of way and whether the driver had enough time to react and avoid the collision.

Authorities will investigate whether the driver was distracted, speeding, or failed to yield the right-of-way. Surveillance footage, witness testimony, and black box data from the sedan could provide insight into whether the driver was following traffic laws or should have seen Wetzstein in time to avoid the crash.

Depending on the results of the investigation, Wetzstein’s family may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim.

I extend my condolences to the family and loved ones of Sara M. Wetzstein.
