Pedestrian Muhammad Akbar Killed in Fresno Traffic Collision

Fresno, CA (January 27, 2025) – A tragic pedestrian accident in Fresno early Monday morning claimed the life of 51-year-old Muhammad Akbar.

Accident Details: The accident occurred at the intersection of First Street and Shaw Avenue shortly before 6 a.m. Pedestrian Akbar was found injured in the roadway and was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The driver involved remained at the scene. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.

Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find that several aspects of this case warrant further examination.

  • Right-of-Way and Crosswalk Analysis: Investigators will determine whether Akbar was crossing at a crosswalk. Pedestrians typically have the right-of-way, and drivers have a legal duty to yield when appropriate.
  • Driver’s Actions and Potential Negligence: Authorities will assess whether the driver was speeding, distracted, or otherwise negligent at the time of the crash. Failure to exercise reasonable care while approaching an intersection could establish liability.
  • Visibility and Roadway Conditions: Since the crash occurred early in the morning, investigators will examine whether poor lighting or defective road conditions contributed to the accident. If so, the municipality in charge of maintaining the roads may be liable.
  • Mechancial Defect: The manufacturer or service provider may be deemed negligent if the vehicle suffered from a mechanical failure.

Potential Legal Claims: Akbar’s family may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim if the investigation reveals another’s negligence caused the crash. Compensation in such cases can help cover funeral expenses, loss of financial support, and emotional suffering.

I extend my deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Muhammad Akbar during this difficult time.
