Newhall Pass, CA (March 5, 2025) – A 55-year-old man from Hacienda Heights died Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a semi-truck on Interstate 5 near the Newhall Pass. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, which occurred just before 3 p.m. on the southbound side of the freeway near the 5-14 interchange.
Incident Overview: According to Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area Office, emergency responders arrived on the scene and found the pedestrian on the right shoulder. Officers administered life-saving efforts until L.A. County Fire personnel took over, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. The crash led to significant delays, as multiple lanes on southbound I-5 were temporarily closed to facilitate the investigation and clear the scene.
