Pedestrian Killed in Crash Involving Tanker Truck on US 501 in Myrtle Beach Area

Myrtle Beach, SC (April 10, 2025) – A pedestrian was killed early Thursday morning after being struck by a tanker truck on U.S. 501 near Legends Drive, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Incident Details: Authorities say the fatal crash occurred at approximately 5:50 a.m. when a 2025 Freightliner tanker truck traveling southbound on U.S. 501 struck a pedestrian who was in the roadway. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not yet been released by the Horry County Coroner’s Office.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: The South Carolina Highway Patrol is leading the investigation to determine how and why the pedestrian was on the road at the time of the crash.
