Pedestrian Fatally Struck While Walking a Bicycle in West Long Beach

Long Beach, CA (August 6, 2025) — A man died Wednesday evening after being struck by a vehicle while walking a bicycle across Pacific Place near Wardlow Road in West Long Beach.

Incident Details: According to the Long Beach Police Department, the collision occurred around 6:07 p.m. The man was crossing the street with his bike when he was hit. First responders arrived quickly, but the victim did not survive his injuries. His identity has not yet been released, as the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner works to notify his family. The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Police noted that speed, impairment, and distracted driving do not appear to be factors at this time.

Investigation and Legal Considerations:  Authorities continue to review evidence and interview witnesses to determine the exact circumstances of the collision. The LBPD is asking anyone with information to contact Collision Investigation Detail Detective Efrain Pineda at 562-570-7355.

Pending the investigation’s findings, the deceased’s family may have grounds for a wrongful death claim. This claim could seek to recover funeral expenses, lost income, loss of companionship, and other related costs.

My thoughts are with the victim’s loved ones during this difficult time.
