Incident Details: The collision occurred around 9:20 p.m. on May 10 in the 300 block of Broadway. Authorities reported that the woman, described as a transient, was crossing the roadway when she was hit by a vehicle. It remains unclear whether she was in a marked crosswalk at the time of the collision. Emergency responders transported her to a nearby hospital, where she remains in critical condition. Her identity has not been released.
The driver, a 28-year-old man from National City, and his 21-year-old passenger stayed at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement. Police said no arrests have been made yet, and the investigation is ongoing.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Chula Vista Police are continuing to determine whether visibility, driver attentiveness, or pedestrian positioning played a role in the crash.
Depending on the outcome of the investigation, the injured woman may have grounds for a personal injury claim to pursue compensation for medical expenses, long-term care, and emotional distress.
I hope the injured woman receives the care she needs and fully recovers.
