Jurupa Valley, CA (October 11, 2024) – A 23-year-old man, identified as Alex Grace of Jurupa Valley, was tragically struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash in Jurupa Valley on the evening of Friday, October 11, 2024.
Accident Details: According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were called to the scene near Mission Boulevard and Pyrite Street, just south of the 60 Freeway, around 8:30 p.m. They discovered Grace in the roadway, where he was pronounced dead. The driver involved in the crash fled the scene, and authorities have yet to release any suspect information. Investigators are asking for the public’s help to find the driver responsible for this fatal accident.
Hit-and-Run Accidents: As a personal injury attorney, I find that several aspects of this case warrant further examination. Hit-and-run accidents, especially those resulting in death, are severe criminal offenses under California law. Fleeing the scene of an accident shows a blatant disregard for human life and is typically viewed as negligence. The driver’s failure to remain on the scene and render aid exacerbates their criminal and civil liability.
Civil Liability: From a civil perspective, the family of Alex Grace could also pursue a wrongful death claim against the driver, seeking compensation for their tragic loss. Alex Grace’s family may be able to recover damages related to funeral costs, loss of companionship, and other emotional suffering caused by his death. However, identifying the hit-and-run driver is crucial for the wrongful death claim to move forward.
My deepest sympathies go out to Alex Grace’s family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that they find peace in their pursuit of answers.
