Lake Elsinore, CA (February 24, 2025) – Pedestrian Michael Ryan was struck and killed by a vehicle in the parking lot of Lake Elsinore Diamond Stadium.
Accident Details: According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 10 a.m. near Diamond Drive and Malaga Road. Authorities report that a driver traveling through the lot struck Ryan, a 58-year-old resident of Crestline, at an unknown speed. The driver contacted emergency services and remained at the scene until deputies arrived.
Paramedics transported Ryan to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, where he died several hours later. Investigators stated that drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors, and the driver was not arrested following questioning. Authorities have not determined why either Ryan or the driver were at the stadium, as no events were scheduled that day.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash. Anyone with information is urged to contact them. Investigators will likely consider several key factors in determining responsibility. The rate of speed at which the driver was traveling is a crucial factor in this case. Even in parking lots, drivers must remain cautious and aware of pedestrians. Investigators will assess whether poor visibility, obstructions, or distractions contributed to the collision. Authorities may review stadium security cameras or seek witness accounts to determine what happened.
If another’s negligence is found to be the cause of the accident, Ryan’s family may have grounds to file a wrongful death claim.
I extend my deepest condolences to Michael Ryan’s family and friends during this difficult time.
