Riverside, CA (May 20, 2025) – A tragic collision in Riverside on Monday evening resulted in the death of a pedestrian who was not involved in the crash but was struck in the aftermath.
Incident Details: Authorities say the fatal incident happened around 6:00 p.m. in the area of Indiana Avenue and Madison Street. According to the Riverside Police Department, a driver in a black 2001 Toyota Corolla was attempting to turn left from Madison Street onto Indiana Avenue when it collided with a gray 2019 Dodge Charger that was traveling westbound. The impact sent the Corolla careening onto the sidewalk, where it fatally struck a pedestrian who happened to be walking by. That individual, described as a passerby not involved in the vehicles’ movements, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Police say the driver of the Corolla remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. It is currently unknown whether speed, impairment, or other factors contributed to the crash. The Riverside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is continuing its inquiry.
