One Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-80 Near Carquinez Bridge in Crockett

Crockett, CA (March 27, 2025) – At least one person was killed early Thursday morning in a multi-vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate 80 near the Carquinez Bridge, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Incident Details: The crash occurred around 3:50 a.m. near the eastbound Pomona Street off-ramp in Crockett. Authorities reported that at least four vehicles, including a big rig, were involved in the collision. A coroner was called to the scene shortly after the crash, and all eastbound lanes of I-80 were closed until approximately 8:30 a.m. CHP issued a traffic alert and diverted vehicles to Cummings Skyway during the closure.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: Investigators will review whether driver fatigue, poor visibility, vehicle speed, or mechanical failure contributed to the crash. In multi-vehicle freeway accidents, determining liability can be complex and may involve multiple drivers or commercial entities. If negligence is established, the family of the deceased may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim, while any injured parties may also be entitled to compensation for damages.

My condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the individual who lost their life.
