SAN DIEGO, CA (July 13, 2025) – A multi-vehicle collision in the Mission Bay area Sunday evening left at least one person ejected from their vehicle and resulted in serious injuries, according to the San Diego Police Department.
Accident Details: The crash occurred just after 7:00 p.m. in the 1300 block of East Mission Bay Drive, north of Fiesta Island Road. Authorities say up to six vehicles were involved in the collision.
At least one person was ejected from their vehicle. Reports from the scene indicated that one of the crash victims may have suffered a skull fracture and an open leg fracture, though it was not confirmed if this patient was the ejected individual.
The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department responded at 7:09 p.m. for vehicle rescue operations and cleared the scene by 8:47 p.m.
East Mission Bay Drive was closed in the area while emergency crews provided assistance and investigated the crash.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: The San Diego Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash. Multi-vehicle accidents often involve complex factors such as speed, distracted driving, sudden stops, and lane changes. In crashes where a person is ejected from a vehicle, questions frequently arise about seatbelt use, collision force, and vehicle integrity.
Victims of major vehicle crashes may face significant medical expenses, rehabilitation needs, and long-term recovery. Legal claims may be available to pursue compensation if negligence contributed to the crash.
We extend our thoughts to the injured individuals and hope for a full and steady recovery.
