Michigan Woman Seriously Injured in Semi-Truck Crash on Ohio Turnpike

Lorain County, Ohio (September 9, 2025) — A Michigan woman suffered life-threatening injuries Tuesday morning after her vehicle was struck by a semi-truck on the Ohio Turnpike, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Incident Details: The crash occurred around 8:20 a.m. near milepost 137 in Brownhelm Township. Troopers said the 54-year-old woman from Ann Arbor was driving when her vehicle became disabled in the right lane. A semi-truck traveling behind her struck the vehicle, forcing it off the roadway and into a guardrail. The woman was transported to MetroHealth in Cleveland with life-threatening injuries. The truck driver, a 51-year-old man from Hicksville, was not injured. The Turnpike was closed for about 40 minutes as authorities investigated and cleared the scene.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash. Rear-end collisions involving tractor-trailers are often linked to following too closely, distracted driving, or speed. Victims of serious truck accidents may pursue personal injury claims to recover medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, lost wages, and damages for pain and suffering. Liability may rest with the truck driver, the trucking company, or both, depending on the investigation’s findings.

I wish the injured woman strength and a full recovery following this Ohio Turnpike truck accident.
