Rich County, UT (June 8, 2025) – A motorcyclist tragically lost his life Saturday evening in Rich County after colliding with a cow on State Route 16, according to local authorities.
Incident Details: The Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) reported that the fatal incident occurred around 8:38 p.m. near milepost 22. The 55-year-old motorcyclist, who was traveling southbound, struck a cow that had wandered into the roadway. The impact threw the rider from the motorcycle. Emergency responders pronounced the man dead at the scene. The cow also died from the collision.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: UHP is continuing its investigation into how the cow came to be on the road. Officials have not indicated whether the owner of the animal may face citations or liability. It remains unclear if any fencing or warning signage was in place to prevent such incidents. The victim’s identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
