San Francisco, CA (February 28, 2025) – A tragic motorcycle crash on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge on Friday afternoon left a 30-year-old motorcyclist dead after he was struck by two vehicles.
Accident Details: The crash occurred at 2:11 p.m. on eastbound Interstate Highway 80. The motorcyclist, riding a Triumph motorcycle, collided with a Toyota Corolla, which caused him to be thrown into a lane of traffic. A second vehicle then struck the motorcyclist and fled the scene. The Toyota driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at 2:35 p.m.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: The CHP is actively searching for the driver of the second vehicle, who left the scene without stopping to render aid. California law requires all drivers to stop after an accident involving injury or death. Fleeing the scene of a fatal crash is a serious offense and could result in criminal and civil liability.
Investigators will also examine the Toyota driver’s behavior, including speeding, distraction, fatigue, and impairment. Reconstructing the accident scene is crucial for law enforcement to comprehend the events that led to the accident.
Depending on the investigation’s findings, the victim’s family may have grounds to file a wrongful death claim.
My sincerest condolences are with the victim’s family and friends during this difficult time.
