San Jacinto, CA (March 16, 2025) – A serious traffic collision occurred Sunday morning, March 16, 2025, at the intersection of San Jacinto Avenue and Midway Street, leaving a motorcyclist in critical condition and another person hospitalized for precautionary reasons.
Accident Details: Preliminary findings suggest the motorcycle was traveling south on San Jacinto Avenue while the SUV was west on Midway Street when the two vehicles collided. Deputies responded around 9:51 a.m. The motorcyclist was transported to a nearby hospital with critical injuries. The SUV driver was not hurt, but a passenger was also taken to the hospital out of caution.
Authorities closed a portion of San Jacinto Avenue between Commonwealth Avenue and E. Menlo Avenue for nearly four hours as investigators reconstructed the scene. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors at this time.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: In intersection crashes like this, a key legal question is which vehicle had the right of way. Investigators will determine whether one of the parties failed to yield and whether distracted driving or misjudgment of the speed or distance of the other vehicle caused the accident.
Investigators will work to determine how the collision occurred. This investigation includes measuring skid marks, assessing impact points, and reviewing vehicle damage and scene debris. Investigators may also analyze data from vehicle black boxes, review surveillance footage, and gather eyewitness accounts to establish the sequence of events.
If negligence is found to have caused the accident, the injured motorcyclist may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. This claim may allow recovery for compensation, such as medical bills, lost income, and long-term disability or pain.
I wish the injured motorcyclist a full recovery.
