Motorcycle Crash in Los Angeles County Claims the Life of John Baertich

Los Angeles County, CA (January 18, 2025) – On the night of January 18, 2025, a tragic collision in the 6700 block of Wheeler Avenue claimed the life of 57-year-old motorcyclist John Baertich of La Verne.

Accident Details: The crash occurred around 11:45 p.m. and involved a motorcycle and a truck. The impact of the collision was severe, destroying the motorcycle. The truck driver, also a La Verne resident, remained at the scene and is fully cooperating with investigators.

Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find that several aspects of this case warrant further examination. Motorcycle accidents often result in catastrophic injuries or fatalities, as motorcyclists are particularly vulnerable due to their lack of protection compared to passengers in larger vehicles. Key areas of focus for investigators may include:

  • Speed and behavior of both drivers: Was either party exceeding the speed limit or driving recklessly?
  • Road conditions and visibility: Were lighting or road design factors in the collision?
  • Potential distractions or impairment: Was the truck driver or motorcyclist distracted or impaired at the time of the crash?
  • Mechanical Malfunction: Did the truck or motorcycle suffer from a mechanical malfunction that caused the accident?

If negligence is established, the Baertich’s family may pursue a wrongful death claim against the responsible party. Compensation could cover funeral costs, loss of financial support, and the emotional toll of losing a loved one.

My sincerest condolences are with the family and friends of John Baertich during this difficult time.
