Rialto, CA (June 9, 2024) – On June 9, 2024, a tragic head-on collision occurred on West Valley Boulevard in Rialto, resulting in the death of motorcyclist Roger Norris, 59, of La Verne.
Accident Details: The accident occurred in the 200 block of West Valley Boulevard in Rialto, by Riverside Avenue. At approximately 5:32 p.m., authorities responded to reports of the accident and discovered Roger Norris, 59, of La Verne, critically injured. Despite being transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, Norris succumbed to his injuries about a half-hour later.
Investigation: The driver of the SUV involved in the collision was identified as Monica Granger, 48, of Riverside. She was driving a Toyota Highlander westbound on West Valley Boulevard, near Willow Avenue, when, for reasons yet unknown, she crossed the painted median into the eastbound lanes, striking Norris head-on. Granger was not injured in the accident and is currently held at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga on one felony count of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence. Authorities have confirmed that alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash.
Legal Considerations: As a seasoned personal injury attorney, I understand the profound impact such accidents have on the victims’ families. It is critical to investigate why Granger crossed the painted median. Potential factors could include driver distraction, fatigue, or a failure to follow driving laws. In addition to criminal charges, if Granger is found to be negligently responsible for the accident, Norris’s family may also hold Granger civilly liable for damages by bringing a wrongful death claim.
My sincerest condolences are with the family and friends of Roger Norris during this difficult time.
