Athens, AL (April 29, 2025) – Matthew L. Ebert, 36, of Athens, Alabama, was tragically killed in a two-vehicle crash on Alabama 20 Tuesday morning.
Incident Details: According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the crash occurred around 5:40 a.m. approximately four miles west of Athens. Ebert was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Sonic that collided with a 2019 Freightliner tractor-trailer. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene. No injuries to the driver of the Freightliner were reported.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: ALEA troopers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. They will be analyzing factors such as vehicle speed, roadway conditions, and possible driver impairment or mechanical issues to determine the cause.
