Manuel Gonzalez Fatally Struck by Multiple Vehicles in Monterey Park

Monterey Park, CA (January 29, 2025) – A tragic accident claimed the life of Manuel Gonzalez, 47, who was fatally struck by multiple vehicles while walking on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway connector road in Monterey Park.

Accident Details: According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the incident occurred around 11:08 p.m. Mr. Gonzalez was reportedly walking in a construction zone within the middle lanes of the freeway connector. He was struck by a dark-colored vehicle. Several additional vehicles also made contact with him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find that several aspects of this case warrant further examination. Fatal pedestrian accidents on freeway connectors are particularly complex and often require extensive investigation.

  • Driver Behavior: The behavior of all the involved drivers must be examined. Were they intoxicated, distracted, or speeding?
  • Road Conditions: Authorities will examine whether the area was adequately marked and lit, given the ongoing construction and time of night. If insufficient lighting or road defects are identified, the local municipality or the local construction company may be found responsible for the accident.

In cases of fatal pedestrian collisions, surviving family members may have grounds to file a wrongful death lawsuit. This type of claim can compensate for funeral expenses, loss of companionship, and emotional suffering.

I extend my condolences to Manuel Gonzalez’s family and friends during this challenging time.
