San Diego, CA (April 16, 2025) – A man riding a scooter was killed Tuesday night in a hit-and-run crash on Torrey Pines Road in San Diego.
Incident Details: The collision occurred just before 11:15 p.m. in the 1100 block of Torrey Pines Road, where a white 2014 Toyota Camry struck the male scooter rider and fled the scene. San Diego Police said the rider, a 57-year-old man, was traveling westbound when he was hit. He was found unconscious and not breathing when first responders arrived. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Authorities later located the Toyota Camry and arrested the driver, identified as 41-year-old Robert Stewart, on suspicion of felony hit-and-run. Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances leading up to the crash, including possible impairment or excessive speed. Hit-and-run cases involving fatalities often result in serious criminal charges.
