Bienville Parish, LA (October 15, 2025) – A truck driver was killed early Wednesday morning in a collision involving two tractor-trailers on Interstate 20 in Bienville Parish, according to Louisiana State Police and The Trucker.
Accident Details: The crash occurred around 3:30 a.m. on I-20 near the village of Taylor. Investigators said a 2021 Peterbilt was parked on the shoulder when it was hit by a 2018 Freightliner traveling westbound. The impact caused both trucks to catch fire, engulfing the Peterbilt’s cab. The driver of the parked truck was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other truck driver escaped with minor injuries. Both westbound lanes were closed for several hours while emergency crews extinguished the fire, removed debris, and inspected the roadway for hazardous material leaks.
Investigation: Louisiana State Police Troop G is investigating the collision. Troopers are reviewing physical evidence, vehicle data, and driver logs to determine why the Freightliner veered onto the shoulder. They are also examining whether fatigue, distraction, or improper lane use contributed. The victim’s identity will be released once next of kin are notified. No charges had been announced as of Wednesday afternoon.
Legal Considerations: Crashes involving commercial trucks frequently lead to complex investigations that assess driver conduct, equipment maintenance, and compliance with federal rest and safety regulations. Families of drivers killed in such accidents may pursue wrongful death claims to recover funeral expenses, loss of income, and other damages if negligence is found. Preserving official reports, black box data, and inspection records is crucial in determining liability.
This was a tragic event for the victim’s family and the Louisiana trucking community. I extend my deepest condolences to those mourning this loss.
