Los Angeles, CA (October 17, 2025) – Eight people were hospitalized after a multi-vehicle pileup just after midnight Friday on the southbound 110 Freeway near El Segundo Boulevard.
Accident Details: Initial reports indicated at least three vehicles were involved, including a Toyota RAV4, a Honda Civic, and two Lexus SUVs. One vehicle overturned, trapping several occupants before Los Angeles Fire Department crews extricated them. According to the California Highway Patrol, none of the injuries were believed to be life-threatening. Several lanes were shut during rescue and cleanup operations; all lanes reopened around 1:30 a.m. after tow units cleared the wreckage.
Investigation: CHP is reviewing physical evidence, including vehicle resting positions, debris fields, and any roadway gouge or skid marks, to establish the sequence of collisions. Investigators are also assessing whether speed, impairment, distraction, or unsafe lane changes contributed to the chain reaction. Statements from involved drivers and witnesses, along with any dashcam or traffic-camera footage, will be used to determine fault and potential citations.
Legal Considerations: Multi-vehicle freeway collisions often involve layered liability among several drivers and insurers. Injured occupants may pursue claims for medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering. Evidence such as electronic vehicle data, EMS records, and contemporaneous photos typically strengthens claims and helps allocate responsibility among carriers.
I wish everyone injured in this 110 Freeway crash a full and swift recovery.
