White City, OR (September 15, 2025) – Two people were hurt and three vehicles were damaged after a loaded log truck overturned near Highway 62 and Avenue G.
Accident Details: According to local officials, the initial alert came in shortly after 10:00 a.m. to report a log truck swaying dangerously as it traveled on Highway 62. A few minutes later, dispatchers received urgent calls saying the trailer had tipped near the intersection, spilling large logs across the road.
When first responders arrived, they discovered that three vehicles, a pickup truck, a sedan, and a cargo van, had been struck or crushed by the logs. The pickup’s driver sustained life-threatening injuries, and the sedan’s driver was also hurt. Both were taken to area hospitals. The van’s driver was not transported for medical care.
Investigation: Officials said a specialized crash reconstruction team with members from several agencies is now examining how the incident happened. Investigators will examine the truck’s load, equipment condition, and driver actions to determine what led to the rollover. The truck’s operator and its company are cooperating with the investigation.
Investigators will likely review skid marks, debris fields, and the condition of the log truck’s trailer and load to determine why it tipped. They may also examine the driver’s logbooks, maintenance records, and weigh-station or inspection history to establish whether improper loading, equipment failure, or driver error played a role.
Witness accounts and 911 recordings, combined with data from any onboard tracking or braking systems, can help reconstruct the events leading to the rollover. Because evidence can change quickly once cleanup begins, it is essential to document the scene thoroughly.
Legal Considerations: When a truck is driven erratically or at unsafe speeds, it dramatically increases the risk of catastrophic crashes, especially with heavy cargo like logs. Loads must be adequately secured so that materials cannot shift or spill. If a trailer is overloaded, unbalanced, or inadequately tied down, a minor steering correction can cause a rollover or spill that endangers nearby motorists.
People injured in such crashes may be able to bring a truck accident claim against those found responsible.
By focusing on whether each party upheld their duty to drive safely and secure the cargo, investigators and courts can determine how the crash happened and who should be held accountable for the harm caused.
My thoughts are with the injured drivers and everyone affected by this crash.
