LeRoy, IL (October 18, 2025) – One person was taken to the hospital after two semi-trucks collided Saturday morning on westbound Interstate 74 in McLean County near LeRoy.
Accident Details: Illinois State Police said the crash was reported around 10:30 a.m. on I-74 westbound. One of the semis jackknifed, prompting authorities to close all westbound lanes at approximately 10:42 a.m. The left lane briefly reopened a few minutes later to allow limited traffic through, but all lanes were shut again around 11:40 a.m. for tow recovery. Officials described the hospitalized person’s injuries as possible; additional details were not released.
Investigation: Troopers are reviewing physical evidence and damage to determine how the two semis made contact and why one jackknifed. Investigators may examine load securement, brake condition, and electronic logging data to assess whether mechanical issues, speed relative to traffic, or following distance contributed to the collision.
Legal Considerations: Crashes involving commercial trucks can lead to complex claims that consider equipment maintenance, hours-of-service compliance, and lane management. Injured motorists may seek compensation for medical care, time away from work, and pain and suffering if negligence is established. Collecting photographs, repair estimates, and witness information can help clarify fault and support a claim.
I hope the injured individual makes a swift and complete recovery after this I-74 semi-truck crash.
