Torrance, CA (January 14, 2025) – On Tuesday, a fatal collision occurred at 6:04 p.m. in Torrance at the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and 236th Street.
Accident Details: The crash involved a 2019 Jaguar and a 1992 Honda motorcycle, resulting in the tragic death of 33-year-old Keith Cody Bagwell of Harbor City. According to the Torrance Police Department, the incident unfolded when a 78-year-old man driving the Jaguar made a left turn onto 236th Street from southbound Crenshaw Boulevard. At the same time, the motorcyclist, Bagwell, was heading northbound on Crenshaw Boulevard. The two vehicles collided, with the impact resulting in fatal injuries to the motorcyclist. Bagwell was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Jaguar was uninjured in the crash.
Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find that several aspects of this case warrant further examination. The investigation is ongoing as authorities determine the cause of the crash. A key point in this case is whether the driver of the Jaguar made the turn in violation of traffic laws, which could suggest negligence. Investigators will likely examine factors such as the speed of the Jaguar and motorcycle, whether proper signaling was used, and whether any other errors may have contributed to the crash. External factors such as road conditions, signage, and the mechanical conditions of the motorcycle and Jaguar will also be examined.
Possible Claim: The family of Keith Cody Bagwell may be able to file a wrongful death claim if evidence shows that the driver of the Jaguar or another third party was negligent. With this claim, his family may be entitled to compensation for funeral costs, loss of companionship, and emotional distress caused by his death.
My sincerest condolences are with the family and friends of Keith Cody Bagwell during this difficult time.
